Cowboy Chuck's. Purchased 1998. $130 One of Logitech's early webcams this is a fairly good first measure camera if you already have one or are given one by a friend. It is no longer available unless you see one at a yard sale. I would not pay more than $2 for one though. The newer $35 cameras are much better. It has a fairly good visualise in good lighting as long as you fasten with the 320x240 image coat. In low light it tends to introduce colored pixels in areas across the screen. Important note: The USB version of this camera is only compatible with Windows 95 and 98. It ordain not work under Windows 2000 or XP. check shots of camera configuration settingsPluses Small size Many populate already have one or can get one from a friend Drivers are still available online from Logitech Base can be removed and the camera mounted on a standard tripod Minuses Tends to have colored pixels when lighting is very low Old technology Fuzzy compared to high end webcam's of today Base is strangely designed

PS3 Discussion Here you can talk about Playstation 3 related things such as hardware and the latest rumours. Lets ignore the PS eye for now (yes. I'll get one but in a bring together of weeks). I have two USB webcams the one for the xbox 360 and an old budget webcam that I used to use on my pc. I can't get the PS3 to recognise either of them. The webcam one used to work it just gives me an error saying no camera is plugged in. Anyone got any ideas? __________________Future Prediction: The PS4 will be an abstract console. Earlier web cameras didn't have support for the standard so they are hit or miss on working. I have a logitech that works really come up and it looks great with its HD video (720p). I'm comfort on the fence about the Playstation Eye because I don't be to create videos but I'll probably choose one up soon since it is only $39.99. Yo the 360 cam should work... I used to have one but got rid of it to get the ps eye... the other pc webcam just may not be compatible. What gave you that idea? Since almost everything that can be used with PS3 can also be made by a third party company. "?MACAM?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-02 03:18:41

I was discussing with my bro about connecting my external logitech webcam to a macbook.. But the problem is that my logitech webcam is not compatible to macintosh.. I googled webcam for mac to search which webcam would bring home the bacon on mac and somehow i stumbled upon a software called MACAM.. It’s a driver for USB webcams on mac os x. Coincidently my bro was just talking about dis type of software. So after reading some reviews i decided to test it out. It took only a couple of seconds to set it up and it works surprisingly well.. All i needed to do was just to lay it and plug-in my webcam. And to alter it work on other applications such as skype i jus drag the component register to the quicktime folder and its good to go. You can use these tags : <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym call=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <strike> <strong>

"Ask TUAW: Skype & webcams, TivoToGo, installing Leopard and more" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:53:41

In this Halloween go of we undergo a a bunch of scary questions about USB webcams & Skype. Dashboard widgets installing Leopard. Tivo & Mac and more. come up authorise so the questions aren't scary but the answers sure are. As always your suggestions are most accept and questions for next week should be left in the comments. And now onward! All you undergo to do is create the Dashboard then hit the little plus sign at the bottom left of the screen. When the Dashboard come in comes up you'll see a little add just above the plus write that says "Manage Widgets..." When you hit the widget below will open. Just select the widget you be hit the red add and it will be sent forthwith to the trash. If you're in a more manual mood your user installed widgets are located at ~/Library/Widgets. (You can't remove the default widgets this way but they be at /Library/Widgets) olivegreen asks i got a challenge concerning leopard and the system language the only cerebrate why i am not celebrating the leopard day with the "shiny" disc is my transfer is basically because i can't get my hands on an english install disc- i be in the netherlands and am currently in germany and while i do understand both of those languages there i'd much rather have and english os (those apple terms just don't translate well) so the big questions: does it even be what version i buy? is it possible to install a dutch os x and simply decide english as system language? does anyone experience? Well obviously I've never seen a Dutch OS X disc but it is the case with the American discs that the first challenge you're asked when installing OS X is what language you want to use. Since the American discs include localizations for an enormous number of languages it's hard to imagine that your Dutch sell disc would not also undergo them. In fact once it's installed you can easily dress the default system language just by going into the International Preference Pane. Sven asks I am wondering which WebCams work for other applications on 10.4.9+ such as Skype. ordain the USB Video Class ones work for this usage as come up? Or the X-Box one? How about using inbetween drivers desire macam? Where do they come in? bring home the bacon natively with all OS X applications after the. act in object that the new built-in iSight cameras are actually USB themselves (look in the System Profiler). The macam driver is for USB cameras that are Video Class. You both would probably be best served by looking though two links on the Skype forums: a and an damon asks I am looking for back up with a TIVO solution. I am interested in getting a HD Tivo but I be to know how well does it play with macs? I have a home theater downstairs with an OTA antenna. I was using a G5 with eyeTV but I had nothing but problems with the program it wouldn't preserve things I wanted. I would delay in the lay of a show and go back to check it only to sight it wouldn't record. So ordain an HD Tivo let me watch shows on any Mac in the house? How about making them available to iTunes to upload to my iPhone? boxes. So the short answer to you question is no it won't bring home the bacon with a HD Tivo but I'm pretty sure that HD TivoToGo has only on the PC so if past precedent holds it may be a while before it's on the Mac. Kevin asks A friend has 12" cater schedule 1.5 GHZ 80 GB HD 768 MB RAM. He backed up using CCC in preparation for Leopard however when he restarts holding "Option" the external control with his write is not found. Why? Is there another way he can do it? That's not really enough information. First of all did he back up to a FireWire external hard drive (PPC Macs generally won't kick off of USB)? back up where there any error messages from CCC; to become bootable the external drive must be "blessed" in a certain way. analyse the log to alter sure everything is kosher. If all of that doesn't work. I'd suggest trying a different FireWire hard drive. Yes that's exactly what the Migration Assistant is for. Just go away the Migration Assistant on the new Mac then put the old Mac in target FireWire mode (hold drink the 'T' key and re-start). The Migration Assistant should see the other Mac and furnish you the option to important any of the users. Just be sure you back up before you do anything else (in fact if you alter a bootable backup of your old Mac to an external hard drive you can actually import from that hard control with the Migration Assistant). i can confirm the language issue on a portuguese dvd you do get to choose system language it's the first thing the installer asks you can further decide if you'd like the languages that will be installed or left out (huge be of disc space saving) head for a custom lay if you wish to leave some out... TivoDecode ManagerI don't know what is worse:That the initial guy could not find this or that you all didn't. Yes it works with HD Tivo now as long as you get the 9.2 software modify. I have a problem I would like a solution to:I'm planning to use a mac with Front Row as a media bear on and it would be great if I could compete files my friends carry (on disc or USB memory) without having to depart FR or do some remote controlling. On a Windows machine. I would undergo solved this with a shortcut to the drive letters but is there any way to make an alias to "any external mounts" in MacOS? I would absolutely love to know if there is some way to use my external FireWire camcorder in Photo Booth instead of my built-in iSight. (I'm on a MacBook Pro.) The Leopard Tech Specs summon says it's supported but I just can't evaluate out how to do it. :("Photo Booth requires an iSight camera (built-in or external). USB video class (UVC) camera or FireWire DV camcorder; and an Intel or PowerPC G5 processor. Backdrop effects require an Intel Core Duo or faster processor. Backdrop effects when using a DV camcorder demand fixed cerebrate exposure and white fit."I would like to use it as an extremely cheap way of chromakeying.. unless you also know of a remove chromakeying plugin or something! Leopard : I tried to run Parallels with Leopard with some really bad results. The VM would run but after shutting it drink Leopard would forbid responding and was forced to reboot. Any way. Parallels added several Windows Applications to my change state With Menu. I've tried to following the Previous tips on cleaning this up ,however this isn't cutting it in Leopard. So Could anyone shed some lighten on how to clean up the Open With Menu In Leopard... convey you Re: #3: "I don't know what is worse"Uh gee maybe because that place you linked says:" It is not for Series 1 (ever). Series 3 or DirecTiVos (unhacked or hacked)."And the "discussion forum" for that place is filled with e-mail. I've heard great things about TiVoDecode in the past but try not to be such an ass about no one knowing about it-based on that cerebrate you gave it looks desire an abandoned communicate and certainly not one that supports the Series 3 as the guy asked about.(If the Series 3 works with 9.2 great! Your link does nothing to give that inform) As for Kevin. I had a similar problem using CCC. It just wouldn't make the plough bootable. I wiped that backup and tried using SuperDuper! (change surface the free version works just fine) and it worked flawlessly. Assuming that CCC may not undergo made the backup bootable this might be one thing to try. I undergo an iMac that's running Tiger and Windows XP using BootCamp. I would desire to install Leopard in the same machine but without upgrading the existing Tiger install. I'd desire to have both Tiger.

"Logitech & Skype Team up on "HQ" Video Conferencing" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:26:26

Logitech & Skype have ganged up on MS' Unified Communications initiative. Their first step is bumping up the resolution of the video from the current 320 x 240 (QVGA) to 640 x 480 (VGA). The HQ mode introduced in Skype 3.6 is only intended for the most recent such as the QuickCam Pro 9000. QuickCam Pro for Notebooks and QuickCam Orbit AF. All three cameras share the same 2-megapixel Carl Zeiss auto-focus lens and RightSound emit canceling technology. To enable HQ VGA conferencing you will need at least a 2Ghz dual-core CPU. 1GB RAM a minimum of 384Kbits/s Internet bandwidth and of course one of the aforementioned Logitech webcams. Skype argues this is about determine for money not just an impressive way to show off technology. I evaluate they are implying the $3000 MS' 300-degree RoundTable video conferencing phone.

"How to wirelessly access USB devices using a network USB hub" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 22:28:56

Can you even count how many USB devices you currently undergo? Probably a USB card reader for your camera and phone a USB hard drive a USB radiate control a USB printer a USB scanner and that’s not even including devices like iPods media players etc. Most computers don’t even undergo enough USB ports to handle the vast arsenal of USB devices most people own. If you’re having this issue in your house or if you would simply desire to setup a USB printer in one dwell and be able to create to it from anywhere else in the house you might want to analyse out buying a network USB hub. You’ve probably heard of a USB hub before as that’s what most populate have to use once they run out of USB ports on their computers. close in the hub into any free USB port and now you’re working with an extra 2. 4 or however many ports are on the hub. A communicate USB hub will undergo two types of ports: one will be a communicate port that you ordain cerebrate to your wireless router and the rest of the ports will be USB ports where you can connect the devices that you would like to access wirelessly. The only “air” with this is that currently you have to cerebrate your wireless router to the network USB hub using a standard Ethernet cable. It ordain be fabulous when the communicate USB hub is actually it’s own wireless device so that way you can have the wireless router and network hub in completely different places. It works with Mac and Windows and is really sleek looking. You can share up to 5 devices off the hub. The only downside to the device right now is that it does not give HD-streaming webcams or video transfer applications. Other than that however it’s a great way to share out your USB drives if you undergo multiple computers but only one printer scanner or external hard drive.
